The Course

The Bottlebutt 100, and the half-marathon distance Hairy-Butt 50, is a new Mountain Bike Marathon event based in the Port Macquarie Region, on the NSW mid-north coast.

The race takes competitors through the State Forests of Cowarra, Queens Lake, Burrawan and Broken Bago, in the shadows of the stunning Bago Bluff and the iconic little town of Wauchope.

Competitors will even get up close and personal with the tree that this event bears the name of, 'Old Bottlebutt', an ancient Red Bloodwood tree that stands at 60 metres and 4 metres in diameter, believed to be the tallest Bloodwood in NSW.

Designed in consultation with World Solo 24hr MTB champion Jason English, the course sets out for some leg warming hills and rolling undulations around the Cowarra State Forest. Passing back close to the event centre after 28km, we head under the Pacific Highway for a quick loop of the Jolly Nose network of trails. A fun yet challenging 26km circuit see's us heading back under the Highway and off towards Old Bottlebutt through the Burrawan State Forest. Heading under Bago Rd, we hit some gut wrenching hills and scintillating downs as we complete a 30km loop around Bago Bluff, taking in the singletrack trails of the Broken Bago State Forest. Passing back under the Bago Rd for a last pedal to the metal dash back to the finish line and some hard earned food and refreshments.
